This a painting of my two grandchildren, Anna and Evan. The children were patiently waiting for an Easter egg hunt to start, but waiting for such a fun event is difficult for little ones. Anna was comforting her brother by holding him gently. Evan was soothed by her gesture and did what he always does when he needs comforting; he sucks his thumb and with his other hand reaches for the soft lower part of the ear of the person hugging him. I was touched by Anna’s patience with him and his sweet actions. The children are very normal siblings and do not always “get along,” but the painting documents the love they really have for one another. Down through the years they will be reminded that Mimi was inspired to paint them in this touching scene.
