2019 Visual Art Entries

ENTRY DELIVERY: Friday, April 12, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm or Monday, April 15, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

VISUAL ARTS EXHIBIT: Monday, April 15 – Saturday, May 4, 2019

FESTIVAL RECEPTION: Saturday, May 4 – 5:00 – 6:00 pm  

ENTRY PICK UP: Saturday, May 4, – 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm or Monday, May 6, 2:00 – 6:00 pm

FINE ART:  Includes all media as well as photography. DECORATIVE ART: includes quilts, sculpture, pottery, ceramics, china painting, carving, wood turning, weaving, stained glass, jewelry making, metal work, basket weaving, doll making/houses, wall hangings, crochet, knitting, glass blowing. 

ENTRY FEE:   First entry $10.00 and second entry $5.00.  Entry fee due with delivery of work or included with entry card. 

ENTRY INVENTORY CARD :  Due March 29, 2019. Card may be mailed to:   Second Spring Arts, Inc., 2513 Neudorf Road, Clemmons, NC 27012 or the required information may be emailed to Jeanne Talich, visual coordinator, at visual@secondspringarts.us with ‘2019 Arts Entry’ in the subject line. Email must include all information requested on entry inventory card. 

VERY IMPORTANT:  Exhibit cards are prepared from entry inventory cards. It is very important this information be correct. 

PRICING / NOT FOR SALE / INSURANCE:  Entries are insured for the duration of Exhibit based on stated PRICE or NOT FOR SALE value declared on the entry inventory card. (If not otherwise provided, Not For Sale Value will be declared at $100.00

VISUAL ART QUESTIONS: Please call Jeanne Talich, coordinator, at 336-788-2008 and leave a message. Be sure to include a call-back number. 

JUDGING:  No additional fee to be included in the judging. There will be one overall BEST OF SHOW. Fine Art Entries will be judged for First, Second, and Third Place. Decorative Art entries will be judged for First, Second, and Third Place. Winning artists/artisans will be recognized in a brief presentation during the Festival Reception on May 4, 5:00 to 6:00 pm. 

SPECIFICATIONS:  Participants must be 60 years of age or older. Entries, other than quilts, may not exceed 42 inches in width (includes frame if applicable) or 50 pounds in weight. Two-dimensional works must be framed in a professional manner and securely wired for hanging. (No alligator-type hangers.) Canvases must be framed or gallery-wrapped with no visible staples or unpainted canvas. Works on paper should be framed and protected by glass or Plexiglas.   

Sculptures must be ready to hang or sit on a flat surface. Improperly presented work will not be accepted. Mass produced reproduction will not be accepted. Photography should be first edition of print run. All work must be participant’s original idea and be created by the participant. 

Entries must exhibit for duration of show. All entries must be original work of participant. Entries must have been completed within last five years. Prior Best of Show winning entries may be entered into 2019 Visual Arts exhibit if excluded from judging process. 

ENTRIES FOR SALE:  Visitors to the Exhibit will have opportunity to submit REQUESTS FOR PURCHASE. Requests will be given to the Artist/Artisan at entry pick up. Sales are handled by individual artists/artisans. No commissions are due; however, donations to Second Spring Arts, Inc. are welcomed. 

DELIVERY/PICK-UP:  Please make arrangements to deliver and pick up entries at times designated above.  Unclaimed works will be considered donations to Second Spring Arts, Inc. Participants, or their designee, are required to initial in each entry at delivery and initial out each entry at pick-up. 

LIABILITY:  Second Spring Arts, Inc., its volunteers, and the Broyhill Center shall not be responsible for any damage that may occur to any entry in this exhibit as a result of inadequate fabrication, improper framing, or for any other reason. Participants acknowledge and accept this with their entry information submission.
